Eddies Company, Inc. was started
in 1972 by Eddie L. Ruth, Sr. Mr. Ruth was born in
Hampton, South Carolina. Mr. Ruth is president of
Eddie's Men Store, Inc, President of Ruth Wardrobe, Inc.
(a South Caroline based retail clothing store), Owner of
Eddie's Furniture Gallery, and Vice-President of E.T.E.
Inc. (a real estate corporation).
After completing high school in
South Carolina, Ruth moved to York Pennsylvania looking
for better opportunities. In August 1972, he
opened his first store in downtown York at 25 S. George
St.
In 1974, Ruth and his father
opened a second clothing store in his hometown, Hampton,
South Carolina. That same year Ruth moved his
first clothing store from York to Harrisburg in search
for better opportunity.
In 1979, he purchased a larger
facility in downtown Harrisburg on Market Street to a
more prominent location, where he is currently doing
business.
In 1996, Ruth opened Eddie's
Furniture Gallery in downtown Harrisburg, and in 2000 he
purchased a larger facility opening the second store on
South Cameron Street.
